Professional mail-in repair, maintenance, upgrades, and restoration for vintage game consoles, handheld systems, controllers, game cartridges, and optical discs. All services follow our Retro Regen Quality Control Guidelines or inspection, testing, and final verification.
Retro Regen is based in Richmond, Texas, and serves customers throughout the United States by mail. Retro Regen does not operate a public walk-in storefront or repair counter.
All repair, maintenance, restoration, upgrade, cartridge, and disc-service requests begin with the same online Service Request Form. Please do not ship anything until your request has been reviewed and you have received the appropriate approval, payment, and shipping instructions.

Starting prices are provided as a general guide. Final pricing depends on the system, condition, parts required, and scope of work. For example, basic NES and SNES controller service may start around $15, while more complex controllers such as GameCube and PlayStation controllers typically start around $30. Repairs requiring diagnosis or board-level work are quoted based on the actual fault and required repair.
How Mail-In Service Works
1. Submit a Service Request
Complete the online intake form with information about your item, the problem you are experiencing, and any maintenance, restoration, or upgrades you would like considered.
2. Receive an Initial Response
Your request will be reviewed before anything is shipped. Depending on the item and requested work, you may receive an initial estimate, evaluation requirement, deposit request, or follow-up questions.
Some problems can be estimated from the information and photographs provided. Others require a paid hands-on evaluation before the final repair scope can be determined. Any applicable evaluation fee will be disclosed before you ship and will be credited toward approved repair work.
3. Approve the Initial Work Order
Once the initial work order or evaluation has been approved and any required initial payment has been completed, you will receive mail-in instructions through the customer portal.
Please do not ship an item before receiving these instructions.
4. Ship Your Item
Carefully package the item and include the identifying information provided with your shipping instructions.
5. Evaluation and Final Approval
After the item is received, it will be inspected, documented, and tested. If the inspection changes the expected repair scope, you will receive a revised work order for review.
No additional repair work is performed without your approval.
6. Service, Testing, and Return Shipping
Once approved, the item will be repaired, maintained, restored, or upgraded as requested. Completed items are tested before being securely packaged and returned.
Typical Turnaround
Most services are completed within 14–28 business days after the item is received and checked in.
Advanced board-level repairs, substantial corrosion, previous repair damage, parts sourcing, or unusually complex testing may require additional time. Any known delays will be communicated during the service process.

Disc resurfacing can improve many surface-scratch problems, but it cannot repair every form of damage. Cracks, severe warping, delamination, and damage to the label or data layer may be permanent.
🚫Emulation Devices, Clone Hardware, and ROM Services Policy
Retro Regen specializes in the repair, maintenance, restoration, and modification of original gaming hardware and supported accessories.
Retro Regen does not service modern emulation handhelds, clone consoles, or similar emulation-focused devices. This includes systems whose primary purpose is running games through software emulation rather than original game hardware or media.
Retro Regen also does not provide software or data services involving game ROM libraries. This includes:
- Installing custom emulation firmware or preconfigured emulation operating systems
- Providing or downloading game ROMs
- Copying or transferring ROM libraries between storage devices
- Restoring or rebuilding collections of ROM files
- Loading customer-provided SD cards or storage devices with game libraries
These restrictions apply regardless of whether the software, ROM files, storage media, or emulation device is supplied by the customer.
Repair and maintenance of original game cartridges, original consoles and handhelds, save-data preservation associated with cartridge repair, and supported hardware modifications are separate services and may be accepted when otherwise within Retro Regen’s service scope.
Quick answers to common questions about Retro Regen’s retro gaming repair services.
Can you fix cartridges that are not reading or showing errors?
Yes. Many cartridge issues are caused by worn contacts, broken traces, or internal connection faults. These can often be repaired using board-level diagnostics and restoration techniques.
I tried repairing it myself—can you still fix it?
In most cases, yes. We regularly repair cartridges and consoles that have had previous repair attempts, including solder damage, lifted pads, or corrosion from battery replacement.
Do you repair worn or damaged cartridge pins?
Yes. Edge connector restoration is a common service. This includes cleaning, resurfacing, and repairing worn or exposed copper contacts when possible.
Can you restore a console even if it still works?
Absolutely. Many customers request preventative maintenance such as deep cleaning, capacitor replacement, or cosmetic restoration to extend the life of their system.
Do you repair original packaging or shrink wrap?
No. We do not offer repair services for sealed packaging, shrink wrap, or collectible plastic materials.
Will my save data be preserved?
We always aim to preserve save data when possible, but this cannot be guaranteed—especially when repairing cartridges with failing memory or battery issues.
Do you accept international repairs?
At this time, services are primarily offered within the United States.
Do you repair emulation handhelds or clone consoles?
No. Retro Regen does not service modern emulation handhelds, clone consoles, or similar emulation-focused devices.
Do you install custom firmware or provide ROM libraries?
No. Retro Regen does not install custom emulation firmware, provide or download ROMs, copy or transfer ROM libraries, restore ROM collections, or load game libraries onto SD cards or other storage devices.
